Title: harvesting the startup freq..

why are there stations tuned to the default login frequency for hours.. there is no activity on there and some people are stuck to that frequency for hours even.. are they some sort of indexing spiders?

just have no clue :)

This is definitely a bad habit, which we have known for a long time in all SDRs.
There was initially a thought to set an initial time limit, but many users use SDRs in combination with third-party programs for decoding or just monitoring, and so we left it as an idea.
If the sysops wish, we can set a time limit, which will be set individually by each sysop. Of course, there is always the possibility through the Admin Panel to kick a user, who either uses the SDR badly, or has forgotten it on a frequency and consumes bandwidth unnecessarily.

It"s not a problem..Phantom can support a lot of users.

Put the initial frequency on 10.000 MHz AM.

Static users will listen to the WWW beacon !  ;D  ;D

ah so its some of hird-party program user.. there is no problem that the station is doing so.. i just wondered why they would listen to static  ;)   73

Hi everyone,

I was looking into this and, at least as far as I could find, I couldn't find a library or repository where previous versions of PhantomSDR-Plus are available for installation, in addition to the current version.

I think it could be very useful to have a historical archive of previous versions. For those who are just getting started with this latest-generation SDR receiver system, the installation and configuration can be quite complex, especially when they don't yet have experience with Linux, compiling, dependencies, and receiver configuration.

Having some previous versions available, together with their corresponding working installers, could make things much easier for new users. For example, it would be interesting to keep versions such as 3.1, 3.3, 3.6, and 3.7, if possible.

The idea would not be to replace the current versions, but rather to provide a kind of "historical library" where a user could start with a simpler version, learn how to install and configure PhantomSDR, get their receiver up and running, and then gradually upgrade to the newer versions.

I believe this could encourage many amateur radio operators who are currently interested in setting up their own WebSDR, but may become discouraged when faced with the complexity of the current installation process.

I don't know whether it would technically be possible to maintain an archive of these previous versions, but I think it would be a very useful resource for those who are just joining the project.

Yes Nestor, it is easy, because I have the whole history from the v.1.5.4, and I have created a new repository here: https://github.com/sv1btl/PhantomSDR-Plus_Archive, although I believe that installing an older version is just a waste of time. There are so radical changes, even between the versions, very near to their version number, that going to a previous version and vice versa it means that often you have to delete the recent one.

Anyway, it's a good idea to keep this history, but believe me that every recent version is always much better than the previous.

The archive is a very good idea Emmanuel !

It permit sysops to install old releases on old computers !  ;D

For Nestor, Phantom is more and more easy to install.

One year ago, Emmanuel, Darko and me had everytime the hands in the toolbox to make phantom run  ;D  ;D

Hello. Yes, that was precisely the goal: to get PhantomSDR running on a machine with limited resources, using a simpler and lighter version to run. Then, anyone who wants to take the project further could upgrade both the hardware and software according to their needs.
Speaking of new projects, I can see that the development of PhantomSDR in the digital field has progressed tremendously, and it occurred to me that, if it were possible to implement, something like this could be very interesting and extremely useful.
When scanning the bands and different frequencies, we often come across fellow radio amateurs transmitting, but depending on the language they are speaking, it is not always easy to understand what they are saying.
Recently, several programs have appeared that are capable of recognizing and translating different languages in real time, and I thought that perhaps something similar could be applied to PhantomSDR.
The idea would be to incorporate a voice decoding system, similar to what currently happens with CW, where the decoded text appears directly on the screen. In this case, the system would take the audio from a voice transmission, convert it into text, and optionally translate it into the selected language.
As far as I understand, various programs and systems are already being used here in Argentina to communicate via FreeDV with radio amateurs in different countries, including voice recognition and translation almost in real time.
So, this led me to the following question:
Would it be possible to develop something similar and integrate it into PhantomSDR?
According to what I have been discussing with an AI, it would technically be possible. It even suggested a name for this possible new module:
PhantomSDR Voice Decoder
I think this could be a very interesting project to explore further and, who knows, perhaps in the future it could be incorporated as a new decoder into PhantomSDR-Plus.

We'll try Nestor, although FreeDV or V/U is not HF - too noisy, QRM, QSB and very often more than one voice in the same frequency. But we'll give a try.

P.S. Google Chrome has an implemented function Voice-to-Text. The results in PhantomSDR are funny when an amateur speaks, and when there are more than one in the same frequency, the Chrome's function is useless....
