New in v. 3.3.3

  • All the install scripts are redesigned.
  • Now change the frequency in the GUI with just hover the mouse and drag up/down wheel,
  • In the admin panel is added crash.log file, if for any reason spectrumserver failed. You can also read the file from the root directory
  • Optimized mobile GUI
  • Redesigned all color schemes for the waterfall, new ;PhantomSDR' color scheme is added
  • Audio background noise suppression algorithm is added and Noise Gate presets are redesigned
  • Emoticons are added for use in the chat window
  • Total bugs clean for server's stability.

Some new updated files are uploaded to the github. They are marked as 'Update to v.3.3.3 (cumulative)'. Please download them and recompile, or you can proceed to a fresh re-install.

The newer files improve latency, Noise Reduction and Noise Blanker, add 50 & 60 Hz notch filters, improve the background hiss and the audio equalization. Some minor improvements also to waterfall colors and fix an issue to the admin_panel.

A second analog s-meter is added. You can call it with just clicking ont the smeter window, to toggle. Files changes are the .svelte ones, uploaded to the github.

The default smeter remains the dark one.

Re-designed s-meter's tools.

Added:
dBµV — voltage level relative to 1 microvolt, across a known impedance (50Ω in RF work). dBµV = dBm + 107. So S9 = −73 dBm = +34 dBµV. Examples: 0 dBµV (1 µV) = −107 dBm; 0 dBm = 107 dBµV.
NF — noise floor: the dBm level of the band noise alone, measured when nothing but noise is in the passband. It's also an absolute level, same scale as dBm.

Changed:
SNR — the difference between signal dBm minus NF, in dB. Relative, not absolute. It's what determines readability — a −100 dBm signal over a −125 dBm floor (25 dB SNR) is more readable than a −60 dBm signal over a −65 dBm floor (5 dB SNR).

Unchanged:
dBm — absolute signal power in the passband, referenced to 1 milliwatt. Tells you how strong what you're hearing is. −73 dBm = S9.
